Below is a brief interview with Yang.
Why CCIH?
I was drawn to the essential concepts of CCIH, and I found them to align with my philosophy of therapy: a genuine connection between humans, being present with authenticity in the therapy room, and sharing the collaborative, therapeutic journey.
What initially got you interested in therapy?
Therapy offers a chance to pause, explore the past and present, and find insight through integration. My own therapeutic journey has helped me gain a deeper understanding of myself and live more intentionally.
Healing is a lifelong, sometimes challenging path—but I believe in the neuroplasticity and resilience that enable adaptation and growth. As Victor Hugo said, “What makes night within us may leave stars.” To be truly seen, heard, and accepted—even in conflict—is a powerful part of that journey.
What do you look forward to learning about at CCIH?
I look forward to expanding my knowledge and experience of incorporating neuroplasticity and somatic approaches into relational work. I also look forward to increasing my capacity to engage in a collaborative journey with my clients. I am devoted to sharing what I have—skills and experience — with those who may find it helpful, and being present with those who want someone to listen, reflect with, and share with.
What do you like to do when you are not in session?
In my free time, I enjoy playing basketball , traveling, and exploring different restaurants. I also enjoy getting bubble teas and desserts with friends–I was born and raised in the “sweetest” city in China, Wuxi, where sugar is often added to many dishes. I also enjoy spending time with my cat at home, relaxing and watching anime/TV shows/movies/reading books.
