We are happy to announce that Izabela Gluszak has joined CCIH as a Trauma Fellow! Izabela brings her years of experience to the fellowship at CCIH in order to deepen her work with attachment theory and somatic healing practices, which she strives to incorporate in her holistic approach. Her practice is informed by her experience as an immigrant, an educator, and a social worker, connecting with clients with diverse experiences.

With Izabela’s arrival, we have additional capacity for new clients seeking trauma informed treatment, including sliding scale appointments. Call our intake line at 773-754-7441 ext 2000 or request a call from us here.

Below is a brief interview with Izabela.

What initially got you interested in therapy?

I’ve always enjoyed working with people, whether as an educator, case manager, or counselor. When I chose to transition to mental health a few years ago, it was a deliberate and thoughtful decision. I felt drawn to providing services at a more direct level, and therapy offered just that. Throughout my work, I’ve been guided by Simone Weil’s words: “Attention is the rarest and purest form of generosity.”

Why CCIH?

CCIH offers an approach to trauma treatment that I was already instinctively incorporating into my work with clients. I chose to join CCIH and their Trauma Fellowship program to further explore how to address the impact of trauma on both the body and mind.

What do you look forward to learning about at CCIH?

I’m looking forward to consistently incorporating somatic practices into my work with clients, and I’m excited about the opportunity to receive guidance and support from CCIH.

What is your passion?

I am passionate about social justice.

What do you like to do when you are not in session?

Outside of my work as a therapist, I enjoy connecting with people and communities. I frequently volunteer for a variety of causes throughout Chicago. I also like staying active, exploring the city, and spending time with friends.
