Pronouns: she/her/hers
Mary has a clinical background working with adults who have experienced trauma, dissociation, and challenges related to chronic illness . Many of her clients have also come to therapy for anxiety, depression, addictions, or relationship difficulties. Systems of oppression inherently contribute to trauma, and Mary explores this impact with her clients as well. She is also interested in how culture and spirituality play a role in shaping a person’s understanding of themselves.
Therapy is a process of self-discovery, healing and empowerment, and Mary works as an ally with her clients in their own unique journeys. Her approach is relational, curious, and nonjudgmental. She holds a safe space for her clients and works collaboratively with them to explore their experience and find a meaningful path forward. As clients find ways to heal in mind, body, and spirit, they can experience life more fully in the present.
Mary has had the privilege of serving her clients as a social worker, advocate, and therapist for many years, working with people of all ages. She received her master’s degree in social work from the University of Chicago. Her clinical experience includes extensive work in community mental health, medical social work, and private practice. Through the professional training offered at CCIH, Mary has deepened her understanding of the neurobiology of trauma and attachment wounding. In 2024, she will complete the two-year Advanced Clinical Training program at CCIH.
