As therapists, we ourselves, are the tools of our craft. At each moment in the process of therapy, we are engaging with our clients at many different levels, both verbally and nonverbally. Our personal history and present experience enter the therapy room with us and influence the clinical relationship. The pain and suffering of our clients can also impact us and create vicarious trauma.

What do we, as therapists, need in order to work in the present moment and connect to the experience of our clients? In this workshop, we will explore our own internal experience and create practices that both resources us and increase our level of awareness.

In this workshop we will:

  1. Explore our experiences of ourselves as therapists.
  2. Experience several practices of internal awareness.
  3. Become aware of the sign of our experience of vicarious trauma.
  4. Develop a plan for both self-care and deepening into our own embodied awareness.

6 CEU’s available to LCPCs, LCSWs, LMFTs and Clinical Psychologists.
This workshop is part of the Sharing the Journey Professional Development Series 2017-2018.
