Read a short interview below to learn a bit more about our newest CCIH Student Intern, Alex Susi!
My friends and family would tell you that I listen deeply, empathically, and with a desire to understand them on multiple levels. As a young person, I was also fascinated with the body, which led me to a brief stint in medical school. When I switched trajectories, I realized through my own therapy the profound potential for growth available in therapeutic practices. It is through my own experience in therapy and the greater changes I have been able to implement in my relationships and daily life that inspires me to work in this profession, informs my work with clients, and keeps me hopeful. I was eventually excited to learn that I could also use my knowledge about the body to help access a deeper layer of healing from trauma and everyday stressors.
I learned about CCIH through the Becoming Safely Embodied groups! I love the concept and think it is such an important and beneficial group for clients who are working toward deepening experience in their bodies.
I am a yoga teacher and have been studying yoga and Ayurveda for many years. CCIH continuously came across my mind as a center that integrates so many of my beliefs and values about engaging in healing through relationships and the body. When it came time to choose an intern site, I knew exactly where I wanted to be, and I am so grateful it worked out!
What is something you think would be nice for potential clients to know that they wouldn't get from your professional bio?
I think there is something so powerful about the morning and waking up before the sunrise. I am quite the morning person! Watching the sun come over the horizon feels very good to me. I wake up feeling happy and refreshed almost every morning. This wasn't always the case for me... but it changed so much about my days when I started waking up early!
