Sensorimotor Psychotherapy is a body-oriented talking therapy that integrates verbal techniques with body-centered interventions in the treatment of trauma, attachment, and developmental issues. The work of SPI is based on principles of mindfulness and mind/body/spirit wholism and informed by contemporary research in neuroscience, attachment theory, trauma, and related fields. SE facilitates the completion of self-protective responses and releases bound up survival energy. It works by gently increasing one’s capacity to tolerate body sensations and difficult emotions.
